Provenance

The Bloomberg PolarLake services are supported by an extensive data provenance infrastructure.

At the data acquisition stage, the source of data is recorded together with the time of acquisition. The raw form is stored in order that lineage can be established post manufacturing. Any extended provenance information delivered with the data is also recorded.

Data can be searched and viewed through the data management workstation. Through drill-downs data provenance can be accessed, understood and reported.

Reporting

In order to track the Operational Effectiveness of the services (data throughput times, exception analysis, vendor issues etc.) our clients are provided with an extensive set of Operational Reports.
Based upon wide ranging real-time and archived data, the reports extend beyond aggregated operational reports to detailing specifics of Data Lineage and Audit History. This provides the reconstruction of data elements at a particular point in time together with the business rules which were applied to the supplied data.
This insight not only provides an in-depth analysis of, for example Price Processing but also delivers a platform for wider intelligent application to risk management and regulatory reporting processes.

Transparency

Meeting the demands for transparency, the Bloomberg PolarLake services record and archive all acquired data together with their relevant source details. This includes vendor data, client internal feed data and calculated data.

Asset classifications are held as specified by market vendor feeds and those determined by our clients enabling data to be investigated from both perspectives.

A complete Audit History is made available showing all changes in data and process enabling reporting for example on change of Fair Value Level and providing high quality reports for internal and external audit purposes.

Reports on consolidated data showing lineage and processes applied are visualised through the interactive data management workstation.
